Leaning Tree Cattle Dogs and Border Collies invite you to attend a Stock Dog Training and Livestock Handling seminar conducted by Marc Christopher from Moody, Missouri.

Marc’s experiences include more then thirty-five years of training horses and dogs, having conducted training seminars for the past twenty years.  He has been a judge of cattle and sheep herding trials, and competed successfully in advanced levels of competition. Marc’s method of training is a progressive, step by step approach, based on fundamental concepts of training.

The seminar will place focus on utilizing the principles of low stress handling techniques.  Low stress livestock handling is based upon strategic pressuring of the flight zone of individual animals or a herd. Ideally a handler/dog will never penetrate the flight zone so aggressively or so deep that the animals panic and take flight. Rather it is a process of applying and releasing pressure on the flight zone edge in a manner that gets the response you want. Pressure is equal to proximity, speed and body language.

The seminar fee is $30.00 per day and includes lunch.  A limited number of working slots are available where participants can work their dogs under Marc’s direct supervision during the seminar.  Working slots are $75.00 each and include the seminar & lunch.   Private Lessons with Marc will also be available on Monday June 6^th and Tuesday June 7^th .

The facility consists of an indoor round pen, 75’ x 100’ oval outdoor arena, two small pastures, one with mature apple and other shade trees.  All outdoor working areas are naturally lower then the spectator area, giving spectators a great view, please bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.   We will also be providing lunch for all in attendance.
